THE PRACTICE

Cerj Lalonde is a contemporary artist whose practice spans more than 40 years and moves fluidly across painting, photography, digital work, installation, and multimedia.

Developed across four continents — the Americas, Europe, Africa, and Asia — and shaped by years lived in Montréal, Miami, and Shanghai, his work is rooted in visual experimentation, philosophical inquiry, and a deep engagement with contemporary image culture.

A post-contemporary nomad artist, Lalonde has travelled extensively and lived in China, the United States, and Canada.

Lalonde moves smoothly from the canvas to the camera, from computers to installations, producing and showcasing an extraordinarily rich and complex body of work created during the last 40 years.
His paintings, installations, photographs, video, and web pages are intended to function each in its own way, as an overt revision and critique of the contemporary art system.
